According to Mayo Clinic, virtually ANY form of exercise can reduce stress. It doesn't matter whether you're lifting weights, practicing yoga, or on the treadmill, it all helps to manage stress. Stress can lead to high blood pressure, weight gain and trouble sleeping.
How does exercise reduce stress?
- Exercise can increase the production of the feel-good neurotransmitters - endorphins!
- It reduces stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol.
- It increases metabolism and self confidence.
The hardest part of exercise is literally just getting started. Schedule your next workout and get to the gym, or go for that walk. Many people find that working with a personal trainer keeps them on track and consistent. However you go about getting moving is great, and reducing stress will follow!
